On my initial plans, the front OEM crossbar was supposed to do a good job on my build with a brand new black paint ^^ and a relocated front engine mount location. But … I was wrong.

As you can see, my modified front mount location is too close to the exhaust header. I took the Y2 original VTEC gearbox as a reference but it appears that S9B gearbox design is totally different for the anti-torque mounts.

As you can understand I was sad to start grinding my shinny new black paint on the crossbar but no choice !

And the drama. With my brand new king size TYPE-R Integra radiator installed I discovered I have not enough room for the coolant piping. So I decided to grind AGAAAIINNN my crossbar …

… and tried to change destiny ! But …

… With the radiator now in a better position, I noticed it was touching another area of the bar and had to grind it again. Damn !

So, after some coffee, beers and doing my best to stay calm I spent all the drive back home thinking ‘you can’t finish install and use such a shitty part’. I opened the computer and started to look for spare components you usually find on an aftermarket traction bar.

On this system, arms are really important and should be assembled with quality components. Let’s forget chinese quality systems you can find on a well known auction website and see what is available at a real manufacturer.

And … let’s also forget the nice and well known rod ends brand sold in France because of : the price. They are perheaps made of gold but it’s not the main criteria for me.

I created my shopping list with MADE IN USA products and started to look for feedbacks as the quality was the most important for me. The brand I bought is used by numerous US teams on drag or track machines and I ordered everything together.

Only one problem : everything comes with the US measuring system (diameters, thread, …). Ordering everything together solved it and I ordered a few extra bolts and nuts ‘just in case’.

This pictures shows one of the two arms currently installed on my car. Rod ends are left and right threaded so you just need to rotate the tube to adjust the length.

Time to move on the traction bar itself. Some weldings to prepare inserts.

And because I will use their OEM position, a new tow-hook !

Main plates bolted on the oem tow-hook position. This is the common system used by a majority of aftermarkets traction bars. This is a good start, but I was too afraid to only trust such a mounting system !!

Measurements and fitting tests. You can notice the brand new custom braided line that runs from the slave clutch cylinder to the master one inside the car.

And here they are : inserts you saw on the 7th picture. I am more confident with a system that uses one oem fixation point from the crossbar.

Adaptation and more weldings trying to assemble everything.

Traction bar, gearbox mount, arm and radiator mounts are now welded in place. Good news : everything’s working and the result is far beyond my expectations !

The bar is hand sanded and then finished with a coat of primer to prevent rust.

It will be sand blasted and powder coated in black later.

The polyurethane primer with epoxy 2 layers black paint is a good combination to protect the finished part.
